The company

Castor manufacturer since 1973

Industrias Plásticas Aragonesas was founded in 1973 to make automotive components. Today our main product line is swivel castors and their accessories for all kinds of trolleys, manually propelled vehicles and automated lines.

Plastic is our main material, but we also work with metal: we make our own brackets. This lets us match each castor to the customer’s application, with a wide range of models, materials and brackets.

Frequently asked questions

Before choosing your castor

The questions we are asked most often by customers ordering castors for a trolley or a machine.

We are the manufacturer. Industrias Plásticas Aragonesas was founded in Zaragoza in 1973 and has been making wheels for more than 30 years. We injection-mould the plastic and make our own brackets; besides the castors in the catalogue, we manufacture other plastic injection products.

Start with the load each castor has to carry and the floor it will run on. Then decide on the mounting (top plate or bolt hole; swivel, fixed or with brake) and choose the tread material to suit the environment: moisture, cleaning, temperature or noise. In the castor catalogue you can filter by all of these at once.

A common rule is to divide the total weight (trolley plus load) by the number of castors minus one. This leaves a margin for when the floor is uneven and one castor is left without contact. In the tables, the load is given in kg per castor.

A swivel castor pivots on its head so you can manoeuvre; a fixed castor keeps its direction and gives stability in a straight line. The usual set-up is two fixed and two swivel castors, or four swivel castors when you need to manoeuvre in a tight space. The braked version locks the wheel so the trolley doesn’t move.

Polyurethane is quiet and wear-resistant on smooth floors. Rubber absorbs shocks better on uneven floors. Nylon carries high loads with very little pushing effort. For ovens there are phenolic resin and cast steel, and for outdoor use, pneumatic wheels.

Yes. Several series in the catalogue are available with a stainless steel (INOX) bracket: the blue polyurethane castors for services and distribution, the nylon castors with a 2.5 mm bracket and the oven castors. In the catalogue, turn on the “Available in stainless steel” filter.

Yes. The loose wheels family brings together the wheels sold without brackets, with their diameter, width, hub length and bore, and most series also include their loose wheel in the table.
